Summer is here early this year. Today is 90°F (33 °C) in New York City! So Crazy. I made my favorite lemonade to keep myself cool. Oolong Lemonade! I used the lemon tea essence that I made during the winter. Check out my recipe for the lemon tea here. If you already have your lemon tea essence, all you have to is put 3g of any lightly oxidized oolong tea (any taiwanese oolong or tieguanyin works). For greener taste, you can put green tea or for more smoky flavor, you can use dark roasted oolong such as ShuiXian, Rougui or DaHongPao. My favorite combo is lightly oxidized taiwanese oolong with my lemon tea essence. If you didn’t make your lemon tea based on my recipe, it is still fine! you can use any lemon tea essence (how to you make lemon tea essence? you basically slice a lemon and put the same amount of sweetener (agave, honey or sugar) with the lemon in the jar)
Because I do not like too sweet and artificial lemonade, I just added 7T of my lemon tea syrup. They are so refreshing! Before serving, I like to add frozen mix fruits (I used Dole Mixed Fruit) instead of ice cubes because ices can dilute the flavor
bottoms up!
Stay Cool
- 3g oolong loose tea leaves (tieguanyin, any taiwanese oolong works. if you don't have oolong add your favorite tea! green tea or any black tea will go well with lemon!)
- 7T ~ 10T Lemon Syrup
- 2 Cups Water (1000ml)
- 100g lemon slices from the lemon tea essence
- topping
- frozen mix fruit
- In a big bottle put 3g of loose tea leaves and 100g of the sliced lemons
- Add 2 Cups of water (lukewarm or cold)
- Add 7T - 10T lemon tea syrup (depending on how sweet you want, you should adjust the amount)
- Mix it well with the spoon and store it in the fridge overnight
- pour into a champagne or wine glass and add a few frozen mix fruits instead of ices
- Serve it cold!
