abcV is the latest addition to abc home’s restaurant empire after abc kitchen and abc cocina. Each restaurant’s menu is all created by the famous Michelin starred chef, Jean-Georges Vongerichten. All 3 of abc restaurants are known for using local and organic ingredients. Abc kitchen serves modern and chic American food including pizza and pasta while abc cocina specializes in Latin American fusion dishes. abcV is a vegan restaurant opened in the begining of this year and it has been one of the hottest spot in New York ever since. It is still really hard to get a table during the peak hours. I was luck to get a table for lunch a few weeks ago.
Love its new BI. Isn’t the root and leaf (of a plant) with the letter V the perfect BI for a vegan restaurant?
abcV is divided into 3 sections : salad bar with coffee and take out / bar / main dining area
While I was waiting for my table to be ready, I was hanging around at the bar. I’ve noticed that there are lots of people coming for salad take out too
This salad bar reminds me of ottolenghi in London
coffee
beautiful chandelier
love these silver vintage trays
bar
finally main dining area
you can actually buy all these plates from abc market
abc home and carpet is one of my favorite furniture & lighting stores in Manhattan. All its restaurants use abc home’s kitchen lines. Some of kitchen wares and lighting are also sold in abc home and furniture
wood roasted beets, dijon, avocado puree, chili aioli, pickles, lovage $13
Thinly sliced beet carpaccio with avocado puree was so good
dosa yogurt, avocado, sprouts $14 + additional poached egg $5
Dosa is an Indian crepe. You wrap it with vegetables, avocado and yogurt sauce
Who needs extra vitamin? I do, so I ordered the fresh juice, root renewal $10 - carrot, apple, beet, lemon, spinach, turmeric, ginger, celery
fresh spinach spaghetti, broccoli, kale, preserved lemon, fermented garlic, parmigiano and saffron crumbs $18
Spinach noodles were al dente!
vegan matcha crème brûlée $11
Was it worth of the hype? Well, I think it all depends. Do you like vegan food? Although I am a carnivore, I love vegetables. I also adore the beautiful plating on delicate vintage dishwares. So I liked it! On the other hand, my friend didn’t seem to enjoy it so much. I highly doubt that she will come back here again. No matter what, it is definitely fun to enjoy its romantic ambiance that only abc restaurants can bring from delicate flowers, silver vintage trays to glamours chandelier. I am planning to visit for dinner in a few weeks and pretty excited!
