[Jeju Island] Tea stone at Osulloc Tea museum, Korea

June 8, 2024 by JOO

CONVER

Korea almost did not make it to tea belt. Fortunately, Jeju island’s climate is apt for tea trees to grow. The biggest tea brand in Korea, Osulloc, is run by Amore Pacific, the big Korean cosmetic company that owns Sulhwasoo, LANAIGE, ETUDE, Innisfree and many more.

There are several Osulloc cafes in Seoul where you can get all variations of tea beverages and green tea desserts. It has tea museum in Jeju island where not only can see the tea plantation, but also experience many tea related activities. One of the most intriguing programs at Osulloc tea museum for me was Tea stone program.

Tea stone program requires a reservation in advance since there is a limit on the number of people who can participate. At tea stone, surrounded by trees and nature, you will be briefly taught the different kinds of Korean green teas and how to brew properly. At the end, you can enjoy your tea with tea snacks. You will leave with not only peaceful mind but also with small souvenirs to bring back.

Shall we visit Osulloc?

All different blending teas in a glass jar just like perfume! They all smell different.

Tea age (茶壽 cha shu) means 108 years old.

Now this number seems no surprise but back then, living up to 108 years old means a pretty long life. Adding all the numbers hidden in this Chinese Character of tea (茶 / cha), the top horns represent 20 and middle and bottom characters represent 88. In total, it means 108 years old. Since the ancient time, people believe that tea is good for one’s health that drinking tea will guarantee one with the longevity.

I am going to eat green tea ice cream!

You do not have to try Tea stone program when visiting Osulloc tea museum in Jeju. The entrance fee is free for the museum and you will still be able to enjoy the beautiful nature, different teas and also green tea ice cream! I would recommend this place for those who love tea, and especially for those who love green tea ice cream 🙂
